What is the future of Own the Podium?

With Canada winning a record number of gold medals and the most overall medals in our history at the Olympics, Canadians are hoping for a renewed level of support from the Own the Podium program when the federal budget is revealed on Thursday. Politicians are only saying publicly that the Own the Podium contributions from the federal level will stay at 11-million annually for both winter and summer sports.  Our premier is committed to continuing to help fund the program as well:

“I can tell you that I’ve talked with other provincial premiers,” Campell said. “They too believe we should be supporting them with the Own the Podium program in partnership with the federal government and you know, what better result can you expect than 14 gold medals which set a world record for gold medals at an Olympic Games?”
