After the Easter Bunny made the rounds over the weekend, I was left with a load of chocolates to last me till Christmas!
Have a craving for Chocolate? Running will help!
A study published in the September 2008 edition of Appetite, suggests that if you are burning a lot of calories through sport, you can also eat chocolate. Eating chocolate helps to improve your mood and in turn will improve the effectiveness of your training sessions. The study also showed that chocolate cravings were significantly reduced after running and after other forms of physical activities.
Meaning that if you have a weakness for chocolate you can indulge in a rib of chocolate after a run without the fear of giving into the craving and powering down the entire bar.
Reduce stress, cholesterol and high blood pressure with Dark Chocolate
Evidently a little chocolate is a good thing! A study published by the American Heart Association in August 2007 shows that flavonoid-rich dark chocolate can significantly increase the dilation of the coronary arteries and reduces the inflammation that leads to cardiovascular disease.
Study participants consumed both mike chocolate and dark chocolate. Those that were consuming the dark stuff showed significantly lower blood levels of C-reactive proteins which are linked to chronic inflammation that leads to cardiovascular disease, when compared to the milk chocolate consumers.
