“How do we celebrate” is an often overlooked part of a work project outline. In fact after the job is done, many people simply pass on celebrating and move on to what’s next. You have put a lot of personal time into the Sun Run Training Program and with a few weeks remaining might even be thinking of organizing some sort of reward for your efforts.
Being that today is St. Patrick’s Day and most people have made the effort of wearing a bit of green, why not consider wearing an outrageous costume during the Sun Run in celebration of realizing your goal?
Many people leave the traditional running garb at home on race day and show up with fuzzy wigs and Hawaiian shirts. Some even come decked out in wedding dresses or show up as super hero’s and bumble bees. Why do they do it? Motivation, fun, competitive advantage, entertainment, and well, seeing the people lining the street smiling and cheering is by far the greatest reward of all.
Creativity has no end. However there are a few things to consider before jumping in head first. Make sure the material for the costume is light and cool enough to run in and that it is safe and able to withstand the west coast winds and rain. 10K is a long way, so be sure to train in your costume to see if it works for you before bringing it to the starting line.
