Canada scored 18 medals at the Beijing Games and the expectation is that mark will be surpassed by a factor of 3 by our Paralympic team and according to Canada’s chef de mission Debbie Low could land Canada a top 5 finish.
Low expects the Canadian athletes will be able to feed off the momentum the Canadian Olympians built during the final week of their stay in Beijing.
“Our athletes certainly do attend many events together back in Canada, gala dinners, benefits, fundraisers those types of things that our Olympic and Paralympic athletes do go together. They certainly become friends and mentors to each other over their career,” said Low.
“So they are really focused and I’m sure they kept track of what was happening at the Olympic Games and the opportunity for some of them to see the venues for the first time by watching television.
