SportMedBC's 2021 InTraining Program

Important Update: InTraining Program start date postponed to March 27th, 2021

In light of the PHO’s announcement on Monday December 7th to extend province wide restrictions on all events and social gatherings, SportMedBC has decided to postpone the start date of the 2021 InTraining Program. SportMedBC is committed to delivering the program in the best and safest way, with as little risk for cancellation or postponement due to COVID-19 as possible. As such, the new program dates will be from March 27 to June 25, 2021.

Registration is still open on the SportMedBC website and the time, location, programs offered and spots available in each clinic will remain the same.

We are excited to welcome Canadian Olympic runner Natasha Wodak as an InTraining Ambassador and RunWalk Coach for 2021! Natasha knows a thing or two about how to improve your 10K time as she is the three-time winner of the Vancouver Sun Run, 2019 Pan Am Games 10,000M champion, and winner of the 2019 Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon. She also represented Canada at the 2016 Olympics in the 10,000M event.

Natasha will be joining fellow former Olympian Lynn Kanuka as your InTraining RunWalk Coach who is back for her 26th year with the program. Look for Lynn and Natasha’s video tips and training advice to help keep you motivated throughout your 13-week journey.

New Balance Vancouver Stores

For the second year in a row New Balance Vancouver Stores will be providing runners and walkers with a 15% off in-store discount at any of their three locations – Richmond, Langley, and Delta.

New COVID-19 Procedures

As we work towards delivering in-person training programming in this new normal the safety of our leaders and participants is paramount. Please note SportMedBC is taking all necessary precautions. We encourage all participants to read our COVID-19 Safety Plan prior to starting the program.

Physical distancing guidelines will be in effect and space will be limited to comply with the most current provincial health regulations. We are also offering an online training program at a reduced rate for anyone who is uncomfortable with meeting in a group setting.

Other important changes include:

New Host Locations — as most community centres will remain closed through the fall months we have had to move many of the clinics to new host locations.
No access to lockers or changing rooms — participants are asked to arrive in their training attire and to leave personal belongings in their vehicles or at home.
All clinics will be meeting in outdoor locations (rain or shine!)
Limited capacity in each clinic — each has a maximum of 25 spots available.
All participants will be required to sign a waiver and Covid-19 declaration form prior to starting the clinics.
