For the first time, SportMedBC’s Sport Safety & Event Services team managed the on-site event medical coverage at this year’s RBC GranFondo. With help from event organizers our team coordinated over 25 medical staff and volunteers helping to ensure riders were well cared for during their journey.
Four medical stations were located throughout the course along with a team of mobile first responders on motorcycles.
“Keeping everyone safe on such a long and spread out course is no easy feat,” said SportMedBC Sport Safety & Events Services Manager Philippe Saucier.
“As with any event of this size, the logistical planning involved and coordination with event organizers, community stakeholders, BC Emergency Health Services, and local authorities is a huge and complex undertaking. Luckily our medical staff was well prepared and up to the task.”
