SportMedBC is seeking mature, active, and enthusiastic individuals to be RunWalk10k Clinic Mentors & Volunteer Run Leaders!
RunWalk10k is a gradual 13-week program that provides expert advice, guidance, and companionship on that road to improve health & fitness. The program meets the need and intrest of all exercisers, from the walker and first-time jogger to the experiance runners wanting to improve their running time. If you are an experianced runner/walker who has a keen intrest towards phyiscal fitness, having a great motivation, and organizational skills.
CLINIC MENTOR: SMBC Clinic Mentors are assigned to each clinic to ensure program delivery, quality, and consistency. Each coordinator is knowledgeable in the areas of health, fitness, organization, and leadership, and is trained by SportMedBC to help clinic participants achieve their fitness goals. RunWalk Clinic Mentor supervise the implementation of the SportMedBC InTraining Program for the RunWalk clinics. As the program’s frontline person, CM’s will ensure the delivery, overall “quality control” and consistency of the InTraining Program. Clinic Mentors will lead weekly education session, provide leadership to the volunteers, and become the liaise on a regular basis with the Clinic Locations Manager and SportMedBC. This position requires you to be present at a designated session for your clinic location, and regular email access to ensure efficient and cost-effective communication with both participants and SportMedBC.
COMMITMENT: Leaders are expected to attend at least 11 of the 13 training sessions. Please note – If a leader misses more than 2 clinics without sufficient warning or reason, Clinic Mentors have the right to request the return their RunWalk package items.
FITNESS: Clinic Mentors are expected to be consistently exercising several times per week in the lead up to the InTraining: RunWalk clinics.
INJURY: Clinic Mentors are expected to be free from injury to maximize the attention they can pay to the clinic participants.
AGREEMENT: As an not for profit multi-sport organization that receives funding from the provincial government; SportMedBC is required to appropriately screen program in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act and Sport Safe.
EARN: Clinic Mentor will receive an honorarium, leader garment, comprehensive training manual, access to exclusive training/education resources including SportMed Safety, Sports First Aid Training.

VOLUNTEER RUN LEADER: will be available each week to assist the Clinic Mentor to motivate and share thier passion with our participants. The running leaders have experience in running and walking and is expected to complete SportMedBC leaders training.
- Experience running as part of a group/club and have a good understanding of aspects and stages included in a 10K training program
- A good understanding of basic running mechanics
- Is comfortable leading and encouraging a group of participants through prescribed run sessions
- Completed a 10K event, preferably more than once.
- Time to commit to 13-weeks with the InTraining program, average 1.5hrs /week.
