SFU Economics Prof: On Funding Canada’s Elite Athletes

Simon Fraser University’s Douglas W. Allen, Professor at the Department of Economics weighed in on the Elite Athlete Funding debate via an editorial in today’s Financial Post. Professor Allen contends that incentifying private corporations via tax advantages to sponsor athletes is the ultimate funding solution:

“Currently there are no incentives in Canada for corporate sponsorship of athletes. This particularly hurts athletes who fail to attract media attention on their own.”
