More favourite trails and runs with our Sun Run InTraining Leaders!
Bonnie Beaman is a Sun Run InTraining clinic coordinator in Richmond, and she’s been a part of the InTraining program since 1998.
“I started as a participant in the InTraining program in 1998 . how time flies when you’re having fun! Over the years, my reason for running has changed multiple times: Reducing stress, having fun, meeting new people, having fun, getting out of the house, and did I mention having fun? I love helping people get started in the InTraining Clinics. You don’t want the clinics to end but when they do, the friendships continue and the experience is life changing.
My favourite run in Richmond is fairly new. Starting at the track at Minoru Park, head across the field towards the Gateway Theatre, up along Gilbert Road, taking the path beside the Dinsmore Bridge. Cross onto the dike and head east. You’ll pass the UBC Boathouse, a new playground area, and art work. Off in the distance, you’ll see the North Shore Mountains, the Vancouver skyline and across the river, planes landing at the airport.
Turning around at Cambie, head back along the same path with a view to the west. More run-ning leads you to the Richmond Olympic Oval. I like to run past the Oval and then across the outdoor plaza. Back along Gilbert and across the field, you’re back at the track. I wrap it all up with a nice cool-down around the track, which gives me the chance to reflect not only on the run, but the lovely part of the world we live in.”
