Registration open for ISPARC’s Regional Engagement Sessions

This fall, the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is conducting a province-wide engagement process that will result in a renewed provincial strategy for Indigenous sport, physical activity and recreation in BC.

These Regional Engagement Sessions provide a critical forum for individuals, community leaders, organizations and stakeholders working in the areas of sport, recreation, physical activity, health, education, and youth programming.

We invite you to come and lend your voice at one of our six regional sessions and help build a new vision for healthy, active Indigenous communities throughout BC.

Regional Sessions:

  • October 29, Northeast, Prince George
  • November 5, Northwest, Smithers
  • November 8, Interior, Penticton
  • November 16, Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver
  • November 19, Fraser, Abbotsford
  • November 27, Vancouver Island, Campbell River

** The evening prior to each Regional Engagement Session, I·SPARC will be hosting an Awards Ceremony and Dinner for the 2018 Regional Premier’s Awards for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport. ** PREMIER'S AWARDS FOR INDIGENOUS YOUTH EXCELLENCE IN SPORT CEREMONY

The Province of BC and I·SPARC collaborated to establish the Premier’s Awards for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Indigenous youth athletes throughout the province.

The Premier’s Awards recognizes athletes who have achieved excellence in performance sport, are regarded for their leadership qualities, are committed to pursuing a higher education, and are recognized as community role models both on and off the field of play.

Regional award recipients will be announced and honoured at the Regional awards celebration and dinner held the evening prior to each of the Regional Engagement Sessions. Athletes selected for the Regional Awards will automatically serve as nominees for the Provincial Awards conducted later this winter.
