SportMedBC is teaming up with RBC GranFondo for a third straight year to deliver 10-week training programs that support all riders in their goal of completing the RBC GranFondo Whistler on September 10th, 2022!




SportMedBC is acvitly searching for expert cyclists, who are interested in leading a group of participants, to prepare for the 2022 RBC GranFondo: Whistler.

Whether you’re looking to tackle the RBC GranFondo Whistler for the first time, improve your time from last year, or interested in a woman only training clinic, there’s a program to help you reach your goal. The 10-week program is designed to allow self-set pace for each ride, while challenging all riders to the same relative degree.   

The progressive program of training, and skill development is intended to support the physical, technical, and mental training needed to accomplish your personal goal distant. Our aim, to motivate all cyclists through health & wellness goals in completing a 122k ride, injury-free.  

SportMedBC’s mission is to support health and performance through sport and exercise of all levels with the Best People, Best Practices, and Best Programs in Sport Medicine and Exercise Science for British Columbians. Participants, volunteers, and instructors will obtain weekly e-newsletter, and correspondence advice to deepen and broaden your training awareness. Weekly topics include:

  4. Self-Performance
  5. Ride Methods
  6. Hill Training
  7. Cycling Tactics

Simply choose your cycling level – Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced and opt-in to whether you want free weekly newsletter support including coaching tips, explainers and more. See below for details of each level.

OptionVirtual: You will ride in your own time, with a weekly online coach check in.In-person: You will ride with others in limited group sizes, meeting outdoors only
Beginner Clinic  
  • Start riding safely and comfortably with the ultimate goal being fit to ride a GranFondo distance.
  • When events return, you’ll be ready to go!
  • Suitable for beginners. All levels of fitness welcome
Intermediate Clinic  
  • Beginner Clinic graduate?  Already conquered a Fondo?
  • Improve your riding prowess and challenge your personal best.
  • Suitable for intermediate riders. Average fitness levels and up recommended / you can ride a bike for over 60km already.
Advanced Clinic  
  • Have skills and fitness beyond intermediate?  Looking for that epic strava ride to impress your buddies?
  • Suitable for confident cyclists who have done structured training in the past. Above average fitness recommended / have ridden 100km.
