Tilman's personal involvement in sport started at an early age. He finished his first marathon in 1967 at the age of 9. Was a member of the Vancouver Optimists' Striders Track Club. Is an avid skier with a podium finish in a US-Canadian Challenge Cup Series event, and later a member of the Grouse Mountian Freestyle ski team. He played amature soccer in Germany for 3 years with a regional team that won two league championships during his time with the team. On returning to Canada he had a successful tryout with the Toronto Blizzard of the C.S.L. and ended up choosing to persue his work over athletics. Most recently, in 2008 he trained for a 200km speed skating tour in Holland known as the Elf Stetten Tocht.
Tilman's treatment style is one of assessment based deep tissue massage and active release stretching. His practice consists of a broad range of the population and is not exclusive to sport injuries. He sponsored a Canadian Olympic Rower on her road to Athens 2004; and currently works with several National Weightlifters and a number of serious athletes in both team and individule diciplines, many of whom have been referred by elite athletes and National Team practitioners.
