Linda is a sport & emergency physician in Nelson, BC. She obtained her MSc and MD at University of Calgary in 2001, and residency at UBC in 2003; her CASEM diploma in 2012, and Diploma in Mountain Medicine in 2013. She is an attending physician in the emergency department at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson. She also works with Whitewater Ski Patrol, and Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, where she is a certified ski guide and mountain rescue physician. She has also worked for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team as part of the Medical Group. She has done consultations in Sport Medicine in Nelson as well as in remote communities, and has served in leadership roles on medical crews for various events and festivals, and as team physician for high altitude mountaineering expeditions in Nepal. She is an instructor in wilderness pre-hospital medicine and a co-developer of The Wilderness Medicine Course. Her professional interests include: high altitude medicine, wilderness medicine, trauma, evacuation, and advances in hypothermia treatment. Her personal interests include: mountain and road biking, climbing, SUP, triathlon, and of course, skiing. Dr. Johannson is not currently accepting sport medicine referrals.
