Kara is a former International athlete, representing Canada in multiple World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Pan Am Games, and the 2000 Olympic Games, in the sport of badminton. She received her MD from University of Manitoba. Following the conclusion of family medicine residency at University of British Columbia, she completed a clinical sport and exercise medicine fellowship through UBC and earned a Canadian Academy of Sports and exercise Medicine diploma. While continuing to practice medicine, she is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in the field of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
