Dr Mockler received her BSc degree (Math/Computer Science) from Dalhousie University. In 1983, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo where she was the recipient of the Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr Mockler has spent the past 27 years committed to maintaining the highest standard of clinical care and has teamed up with other doctors who are committed to the same vision.
Dr Mockler has had a longstanding interest in visual efficiency, exploring the relationship between vision and learning. She has established training programs in visual efficiency for many of Canada’s elite athletes and has participated in vision assessment clinics at the Barcelona & Lillehammer Olympic Games as well as organizing the eye care and sports vision services for the Victoria Commonwealth Games. Dr. Mockler also served as the Clinical Director for Canada of the Opening Eyes Program for Special Olympics.
She has chaired the Sports Vision Committee of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and has provided consultation to several other Sports Science committees. Dr. Mockler is excited to join Dr. Loopeker in bringing sports vision services to all athletes at the Multi Sport Centre of Excellence (soon to be completed).
Dr Mockler was the recipient of BC’s “Optometrist of the Year Award’ in 2002 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the profession and the community.
She has a love of nature and the outdoors and nurtures these passions through her ongoing participation in adventure travel and athletics.
