Deanna has been practicing as an athletic therapist in BC since 2000. She is also a professor in the School of Human Kinetics, Trinity Western University. Deanna has worked with high-level teams and athletes in a variety of sports; volleyball, rugby, hockey, basketball, wrestling, martial arts, softball, etc. Deanna has been the head therapist for the Bayside Rugby Football Club since 2005.
Deanna has served several sport medicine committees. She was on the SportMed BC Board of Directors for six years (2004-2006). She is past president of the Athletic Therapy Association of BC (ATABC) and Chair of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) Education Committee. She served as Medical Director for the 2010 BC Summer Games in Langley. She was also Supervisory Athletic Therapist for the Vancouver Olympic Committee.
Deanna's research is in the area of sport epidemiology. Her Master's research focused on injury rates in women's ice hockey. She has also published data on injury rates in women's rugby. Her current research involves neuropsychological testing for concussion in women. Deanna has also been counselling concussed athletes as a 'concussion care specialist' for the lower mainland since 2005. She is an ImPACT credentialed provider as well.
