Dr. Vetsch was originally raised and educated in Calgary, Alberta and graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario in 1983. Immediately after graduation he moved to the Lower Mainland and practiced in both Maple Ridge and Richmond until 1988. At that time he took on the ownership of the City Center Eye Care Clinic, previously the practice of Dr Roy Scott; Richmond’s original optometry practice established in 1950. In 2001 he joined forces with Drs. Mockler and McNab to form Pacific eyeDoctors® – Richmond; Richmond’s most progressive eye care facility.
Dr. Vetsch’s clinical interests involve state of the art contact lens care as well as the newest technologies in general eye care. He is considered the office ‘techie’ and enjoys working with the extensive computer systems which allow Pacific eyeDoctors® to provide the latest eye care.
Dr Vetsch is an avid athlete who enjoys skiing, windsurfing, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking. He has been active in Sports vision and has participated in vision assessment clinics involving many of Canada’s elite athletes including the Alpine Ski and Snowboard teams, the National Shooting team, and the Canadian Women’s Softball teams. He participated in the eye care section of the Victoria Commonwealth Games, designing and implementing a database for compiling and evaluating the visual skills of many of the world’s best athletes.
