Alivia (Scalzo) Maric, Ph.D., a Registered Psychologist (CPBC #01044) since 1992, has a special focus in providing pre/post natal counselling. She offers support and coping skills to women and their partners who are experiencing psychological or emotional distress related to pregnancy and childbearing issues. These issues include fertility concerns, prenatal anxiety/depression, postpartum depression, pregnancy loss and birth trauma.
In addition, Alivia provides therapy to individuals and couples who have experienced childhood/adult abuse & trauma, grief and loss. She also offers counselling for depression, panic, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship, work and Family of Origin issues, addictions and stress.
She utilizes a variety of techniques and approaches including psychodynamic and cognitive therapy, relaxation and stress management, and EMDR. Alivia received her doctorate from SFU and is a member of the BC Psychological Association.
