More favourite trails and runs with our Sun Run InTraining Leaders!
Deanna McLeod is a Sun Run InTraining area coordinator in the valley. Here she guides us through Pitt Meadows!
“Fourteen years ago, my then 6-year-old son joined his cross country running team at school. Wanting to help him out in any way that I could, I proudly proclaimed, “Mommy will run with you!” Sadly, Mommy was incapable of running even one full lap of the school’s field! Thanks to that eye opener, a good friend, and the Sun Run InTraining clinic, I have since run many half-marathons, marathons, and even gone on to participate in several Ironman triathlons!
My favorite run starts in Pitt Meadows on a trail that runs along the Fraser River. It then extends on to the seemingly never ending dike system of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. I have the privilege to run by the beautiful blueberry and cranberry fields that Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge are famous for, all the while spotting eagles and blue herons hunting for their dinner. The Golden Ears Mountains provide the perfect backdrop to this peaceful, traffic-free run. Here you’ll find many challenging trails for a run any day of the week!”
