Fall RunWalk Announcement

Fall RunWalk Announcement

Our 13-week RunWalk program has been a vital part of 1000s of runners across BC and the lower mainland’s healthy lifestyle each year. It’s been an amazing 27+ years of seeing our runners put their health and wellness first by training for the Vancouver Sun Run.

In 2019 Capstone Media was contracted by the Vancouver Sun to manage the Vancouver Sun Run which altered the conditions of the contract between ourselves and the Vancouver Sun Run. SportMedBC did it’s best to pivot under new circumstances to continue the RunWalk program despite that partnership with the Vancouver Sun Run no longer being the same.

In 2020 with Covid being at the forefront of all our lives, SportMedBC was forced to pivot once again.  Our staff has worked relentlessly to keep our programming operating as efficiently as possible with as little interruption as possible. As with most life altering experiences like a pandemic there are hardships and many lessons to learn. The silver lining for our non-profit organization was to learn exactly how much bigger and better the programs could be.

With many of our programs overlapping, in order for us to continue expanding SportMedBC’s InTraining program, we’ve made the decision to operate the 2022 Fall RunWalk program virtually and focus our attention on building a stronger InTraining program to resume Spring 2023 that will benefit of our mentors, leaders and participants for many more years to come.

These next few months will allow our staff to implement many improvements such as a brand new SportMedBC website coming this fall.  The new website will allow provide our community of runners, cyclists, practitioners, and Sports Aiders a new user-friendly experience making access to registration, resources, courses, and programs easier. This will ultimately allow SportMedBC to build a stronger community to resume in-person for the spring of 2023 for the 28th year of the Spring RunWalk program with the same excitement and enthusiasm as when the InTraining first began!

The staff and Board of Directors of SportMedBC are looking forward to these exciting new changes allowing SportMedBC to re-emerge as the same SportMedBC that we all know and love with a new website and many additional new features.

Stay tuned for more information!
