Update March 30
As per our last update two weeks ago we promised to reassess the COVID-19 situation at the end of March and come to a decision on how to proceed for the remaining weeks of 2020 InTraining program.
On the advice of government and public health authorities and with physical distancing measures likely in place for the foreseeable future, SportMedBC has made the decision to officially suspend all in-person training sessions for the remainder of the program.
We will continue to offer online support to our participants and encourage you to continue with your training by running/walking individually to complete your InTraining goals this season, provided it is safe for you to do so.
Please continue to monitor our weekly newsletter for more updates.
Update March 16
With the continuing escalation of advised precautionary measures to mitigate transmission risks of the (COVID-19) Coronavirus, SportMedBC has made the decision to officially suspend all InTraining Clinics between now and March 30th, at which point we will reassess the situation.
This means that all weekly clinic meetups are currently suspended.
Most community centres around the Lower Mainland have decided to close down for the time being, and following public health authorities’ advice on social distancing, it's important to do what we can to stop this virus from spreading further.
We will continue to offer online support to our participants and encourage you to continue with your training by running/walking individually while group meet ups are put on hold. We suggest that you maintain contact with your clinic coordinator and adhere to the training program as best you can provided it is safe for you to do so. Lynn and I will be here to support you and your peers with the usual weekly online coaching advice. We will also be adding a webinar to help keep your InTraining mojo, and answer any questions and concerns you may have over the next couple of weeks.
Even though there is no Vancouver Sun Run on the horizon, let's not make this stop our progress and all the hard work and training put into the weeks leading up to now while ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
Unfortunately, at this point we are unable to offer any pro-rated refunds for cancelled weekly meet ups and hope that participants will continue to follow the program individually with our virtual coaching and training advice.
This is a fluid situation and we are following the lead of public health officials. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes in light of new information that becomes available. Our number one priority remains to protect the health safety and well-being of our participants and people in our community.
Please feel free to contact us at runwalk.manager@sportmedbc.com if you have any further questions.
Stay safe everyone!
