Join us for SportMedBC’s 2019 AGM on Tuesday October 29th

SportMedBC is inviting sport medicine professionals and fellow provincial sport sector partners to our upcoming Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, October 29 at Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby, BC.
We have an exciting evening planned including the unveiling of SportMedBC’s four-year strategic plan. We will also be introducing two new honorary members. The night will conclude with a special guest interview of a Canadian Olympic athlete.
Honorary Members are those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the association over a number of years, and who have been selected and named as Honorary Members by the membership at a General Meeting.
Lynda Cannell was the President & CEO of SportMedBC from its inception in 1982 to 2012. Under Lynda’s guidance and leadership, SportMedBC established many of the same programs and services that we continue to deliver to this day. Her commitment and dedication helped propel SportMedBC to new levels of professionalism and scope through its community programming and creative partnerships within the sport medicine community in British Columbia. We are thrilled to recognize Lynda for her contributions to SportMedBC by making her an honorary member.
Clyde Smith is a Sports Physiotherapist and was a founding principal of the British Columbia Sports Medicine Centre, which later was re-named The Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre.
Often regarded as a pioneer in sport therapy, Mr. Smith was one of the first people hired by Toronto’s Sheridan College in 1973 to assist in the creation of a course designed to train professional sports team trainers. He was also instrumental in the early years of SportMedBC and later served on SportMedBC’s Board of Directors from 2003 until 2011.
We are also pleased to welcome Canadian Olympic athlete Natasha Wodak as our special guest for the evening. Natasha was the winner of the 2019 Vancouver Sun Run, won gold while setting a Pan Am record in the women's 10,000M race at the 2019 Pan Am Games, and recently competed for Canada at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha this past month. Natasha will be interviewed by Tom Meyenknecht – Chair for the BC Sports Hall of Fame and a radio host on TEAM 1040 in Vancouver.
As SportMedBC continues to promote awareness and leadership in sport medicine, sport science, sport training and health promotion we hope you can join us for what is sure to be a very special evening. Please use the registration link here to confirm your attendance.
Yours in sport,
SportMedBC team
