(Vancouver, BC – April 16, 2013) – Vancouver Sun Run officials met today with officials from the City of Vancouver, The Vancouver Police Department, The Vancouver Fire Department, Ambulance Services and other officials to review the Vancouver Sun Run Emergency Preparedness Plan.
“We are happy to report that all parties were in agreement that a solid plan was in place and served to secure the safety of all involved in the race,” stated Jamie Pitblado, Vice President of Promotions and Community Investment for the Vancouver Sun and head of the Vancouver Sun Run.
Also, Sun Runners are urged to show their support for the participants and spectators of the Boston Marathon by wearing blue and yellow, the official colours of the Boston Marathon, as they participate in Sunday’s Sun Run.
“It has been absolutely amazing how Sun Runners have rallied behind the people of Boston and the Boston Marathon and are eager to show their support at this most difficult time,” stated Jamie Pitblado, Vice President of the Promotions and Community Investment for the Vancouver Sun and head of the Vancouver Sun Run.
“One way to publicly show sympathy is to find one or more items – in blue and yellow – whether it be ribbons, hats, shirts or shorts and wear them proudly as they run along the Sun Run route,” concluded Pitblado.
The Vancouver Sun Run happens Sunday, April 21 with the 10K race getting underway at 9am.
