With the continuing escalation of precautionary measures to mitigate transmission risks of the (COVID-19) Coronavirus, SportMedBC has suspended the delivery of all in-person programs and services effective March 16, 2020. We remain committed to delivering our sport training programs and sport safety courses and workshops in a way that is safe and have modified the format so they can be delivered virtually.
10K to Half Marathon Training Program
Following the provincial health authority's recommendation to limit public gatherings, sadly we will be unable to hold weekly clinic meetups for the 10K to Half Marathon program. However, SportMedBC is pleased to offer the program virtually for FREE! Please be sure that you meet the pre-requisites listed below as this program is built as a continuation of the 10K InTraining Program.
Fondo Clinics
SportMedBC is teaming up with RBC GranFondo for a third straight year to deliver 12-week training programs that support all riders in their goal of completing the RBC GranFondo Whistler on September 12, 2020. The program will follow a hybrid format with the first four weeks of the program (at least) taking place virtually. The program is scheduled to begin the week of June 15, 2020. More information to come in the week ahead. Stay tuned!
Sport Safety Courses and Workshops
Please note that all scheduled in-person courses and workshops have been cancelled through May 31, 2020. Our staff has modified our Sport Safety & Event Services programs and resources available to you, to ensure that you can still access them if needed. These changes create an opportunity for practitioners and our sport sector partners to access our programs in an online format, with webinar-type based courses and workshops available for you. Please contact Sport Safety & Events Services Manager, Philippe Saucier at safetyevents.manager@sportmedbc.com if you are interested or have any questions about any of these online format courses.
SportMedBC staff will continue to work remotely during this time, however please be advised that our office at Fortius Sport & Health will be closed until further notice. We will do our best to provide you with timely updates as the situation evolves.
The safety and well-being of communities across BC is paramount and we encourage everyone to take steps to ensure their health and the health of others during this time.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to providing you with more information in the days and weeks ahead.
