I am a sports medicine physician new to the Victoria-area and I have recently been appointed Chief Medical Officer of Rugby Canada. My office is based at the rugby Canada National Training Centre in Langford.
As a Certified Athletic Therapist, my professional focus is to support both high performance and recreation level athletes throughout the continuum of injury to rehabilitation to return to play. As both emergency injury management professionals and clinical therapists the Athletic Therapist is uniquely positioned to understand the demands of movement based injuries and active participants in sport and activity.
Sharleen Hoar (Ph.D.) has been supporting elite and aspiring performers of all ages to achieve personal and performance excellence since 1996. She is a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and is the mental performance lead with the Canadian Sport Institute - Pacific working with Olympic and National team athletes, coaches, and sport science and medical professionals.
Kristen Yarker, MSc, RD is a registered dietitian with 25 years of experience in nutrition. A past competitive athlete (running - cross country & track, University of Guelph), she understands the drive for (and pressures of) performance. For athletes, the general ‘healthy eating’ rules don’t apply.
Charlene graduated from the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria in 2012. Since then she has had the pleasure of working in a variety of spa and resort environments, and she has enthusiastically volunteered at many sporting events. She enjoys working with clients of all ages, including seniors and youth.
