The BC Games Society is seeking enthusiastic, experienced people to serve as volunteer Team BC Mission Staff members for the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. As part of Team BC, Mission Staff will lead in helping BC’s athletes have the experience of a lifetime at this premier multi-sport event. The 2015 Western Canada Summer Games will be held in Wood Buffalo, Alberta from August 7th to 15th, 2015 and bring together approximately 2,300 athletes, coaches, managers, and officials from four provinces and three territories for ten days of high calibre multi-sport competition.
The Mission team works to ensure that all aspects of Team BC’s preparation, including athlete and coach services and support (uniforms, media relations, newsletter, registration, logistics, etc) are in place for successful team performances. This is an opportunity to play a key role in BC’s sport development system. Team BC is seeking individuals who possess strong communication and administration skills; thorough knowledge of BC’s amateur sport system; interest in and enthusiasm for working in a fast paced multi-sport environment; ability to operate independently and in a team atmosphere; ability to perform functions and duties outside of your assignment; strong interpersonal skills and an ability to provide excellent service to the assigned sports. As well, the ideal candidate will have extensive and varied experience as a volunteer, athlete or coach at a multi-sport Games and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Games movement.
