4 BC Athletes on Wheelchair Rugby Team

 

Gary Kingston in today’s Vancouver Sun has a look at the 4 BC members of Canada’s Wheelchair Rugby Team at the Bejing Paralympics with a special profile on Surrey’s Say Luangkhamdeng.

“The physical nature, the speed, everything about it was exciting,” Luangkhamdeng, a 31-year-old Surrey resident, said of the violent indoor game originally called murderball for its crash-and-bang action that startles most people when they see it for the first time.

“It’s kind of like football, with all the picking, blocking and hitting.”
